Power quality assessments per IEEE 1159, voltage sag/swell analysis, harmonic distortion measurement, ITIC/CBEMA evaluation, and PQ monitoring system design.
The ITIC (Information Technology Industry Council) curve defines the voltage envelope that IT equipment is designed to tolerate. Voltage events outside this envelope can cause equipment malfunction or damage. Plotting your PQ events on the ITIC curve shows whether your power quality is acceptable for sensitive equipment.
IEEE 519-2022 limits harmonic current distortion injected into the utility system at the Point of Common Coupling (PCC). The limits depend on your facility size relative to the utility (Isc/IL ratio). For most commercial facilities, individual harmonics must be below 5-12% and total harmonic distortion below 5-8%. Exceeding these limits can trigger utility penalties or interconnection issues.
