Occupational noise surveys, dosimetry, engineering control recommendations, and hearing conservation programs meeting O.Reg. 381/15 and CSA Z107 requirements.

What is the noise exposure limit in Ontario?

O.Reg. 381/15 sets the occupational exposure limit (OEL) at 85 dBA Lex,8h (8-hour equivalent continuous sound level) with a 3 dB exchange rate. Peak sound levels must not exceed 140 dBC. Employers must take reasonable measures to reduce exposure below the OEL.

Key Deliverables

What is the difference between area and personal monitoring?

Area monitoring (sound level meter on a tripod) measures the noise environment at a location. Personal monitoring (dosimeter worn by the worker) measures the actual exposure received by a specific worker throughout their shift. Both are needed for a complete assessment.
