Engineered excavation safety plans including soil classification, shoring/sloping design, utilities locating protocols, and daily inspection requirements.

At what depth is shoring or sloping required?

In Ontario, O.Reg. 213/91 s.228 requires protective systems (shoring, sloping, or trench box) for excavations deeper than 1.2 metres (4 feet) where a worker is required to enter. Some soil conditions require protection at shallower depths.

Key Deliverables

Who can classify soil on a construction site?
